If you're working on an engineering or technical degree, why not put extra money in your pocket while finishing your education?  'The Air Force' Technical Degree Sponsorship Program (TDSP) provides an excellent way to earn a paycheck while earning your degree.

TDSP allows college students who are within 24 months from graduation to receive the full pay and benefits of an E-3 - Airman First Class. This entitles you and your family members to military perks such as comprehensive medical and dental care, tax-free allowances for housing and food, and base exchange and commissary priviledges. Tuition assistance is not included.

Technical Career Fields

TDSP is open to undergraduate and graduate students in computer engineeringand electrical engineering. Occasionally additional technical career fields such as environmental engineering and meteorology are accepted too.

Engineering programs must be accreditied by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) and technical degree must be earned through regionally accredited schools.

Program Participation

To participate in TDSP, you agree to enter into the Regular active-duty Air Force while attending college full-time.

After graduation you'll attend the 12-week Basic Officer Training (BOT) course at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama and earn your commissions as a Second Lieutenant. There's an initial four-year active-duty commitment. As an officer, you'll jump into an exciting Air Force job that uses your technical skills and expertise. You may discover you really enjoy the quality of life the Air Force offers and decide to make a career out of serving your country.

TDSP Requirements

- Be enrolled on a continuous basis each academic term with no breaks, to include at least one summer session or full time internship relevant to degree specialty.

- Must meet specific TDSP deadlines

- Be between the ages of 18 and 34 at the time of commissioning

- Possess a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale for all college-level studies as well as your academic major.

- Attain a minimum score of 25 on the verbal and 25 on the quantitative portions of the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test.

- Meet standard commissioning requirements as prescribed in Air Force Instructions

- Provide official transcripts and verification letter from the school, certified by the university/college registrar.
